London web designer

I get plenty of calls from web design companies in India looking to offer me their services as a third party supplier of design, programming and database services.

I always decline.

In theory, I could on-sell the services of one or more of these companies direct to my clients here in London. This would allow me to make plenty of money by clipping the ticket.

The key phrase to note is in theory.

The plain fact is, I'll never rely on a third party web designer based in a foreign country. The potential for chaos is all too obvious...

  • Cultural differences complicate what is already a difficult process. Especially when a face-to-face meeting is impossible
  • Language difficulties add further complexity
  • The web designer is taking his/her brief from an account manager, who took his/her brief from me, who actually sat down with the client. This introduces two extra opportunities for error
  • I have no practical legal redress if the third party doesn't deliver what I ask for, and won't put it right

I have none of these problems if I remain local. I have no problem with the concept of a third party supplier. In fact, I myself provide web programming and database services to other London web designers.

Ultimately, web design is best handled by a local provider. I don't provide services to businesses outside of London, because it isn't in their best interests to use me.
