Every web site is a gold mine, offering its owner numerous opportunities to generate high quality leads. All it takes is a little knowledge.

Let's take a closer look at each of these secrets, and find out how to put them to work.

1. Know who you're talking to

There is no such thing as powerful lead generation ad copy. Instead, your message is given power by the person who receives it. But that power is only given if the message strikes a chord with the reader.

You have to know who you want to talk to, and what it is that rocks his or her world.

2. Write directly to that person

As soon as you know who you want to talk to, write your lead generation copy as if you were actually talking to him/her. Focus exclusively on benefits you think will appeal to the person you're talking to.

But what about people who won't find that message compelling?

You needn't limit yourself to one conversation. You can create a unique lead generation message for each type of person you'd like to reach.

3. Tell the person what to do

One of the biggest mistakes I see in direct response advertising, is copy that doesn't tell the reader what to do next.

When a person reaches the end of your lead generation message, don't assume he/she knows how to respond. All you need to do is ask him/her to 'click here,' or 'fill out the form and click the button.'
